THREE MAIN WATERFALLS IN SRI LANKA

Waterfalls are gift of nature. They enhance the beauty of the environment. Our country is home to more than 100 waterfalls and rivers which at the end of the day stops at the Indian ocean. Waterfalls are mostly located in the Hill Country. Most of the waterfalls are very difficult to find because of the dense forests and are sometimes totally inaccessible. Only a handful of waterfalls are used to bath in, whereas the others are too dangerous to do so.

1.  BAMBARAKANDA WATERFALL


The tallest waterfall yet in Sri Lanka which boats a height of 789 feet. Located in Bandarawela.

2.  BAKERS WATERFALL.


It is located at Hroton Plains and is also one of the most beautiful waterfall in the country. It is very dangerous waterfall  to bath in. It is about 20 meters and is named after a well known explorer in the name of Sir SAMUEL BAKER.

3. Bopath Ella  


This waterfall is located in a village known to many as Devipahala, close to Rathnapura. This also a dangerous waterfall to swim in, since there have been many deaths of people to have tried to do so. The name derived from the fact that ther waterfall is shaped like a leaf of Bo tree.
